The Department of Actuarial Science and Insurance came into being upon the creation of ABU Business School. The department was carved out in 2018 from the old Department of Business Administration. Actuarial science programme has been around since 1975 as an area of specialization, under the department of Business Administration.
The B.Sc. Insurance began in the 2013 academic session with the first set of students graduating in the 2015 session. Department of Actuarial Science houses two undergraduate programmes: B.Sc. Actuarial Science; and B.Sc. Insurance.
The department has produced hundreds of graduates that currently provide valuable services to insurance companies, pension administrators, academia and other related industries. The department will soon commence its Postgraduate programmes in the field of Actuarial Science and Insurance.
